Make your own dark chocolate bar at home, without sugar, with low calories, using high-quality ingredients.
You will need:
- 1/2 teacup raw organic cacao powder
- 1/2 teacup raw organic cacao butter or 1/2 teacup coconut oil
- 2-3 tbsp honey or agave syrup or maple syrup
- vanilla extract (optional but gives nice smell)
Raw organic cacao powder is highly rich in antioxidants that prevent the harmful effects of free radicals and protect against cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and aging. It is loaded with magnesium, potassium, calcium, iron, copper, and serotonin that helps the good mood!
Cacao butter is the natural fat coming from the processing of the cacao tree seeds. You would rather use the raw cacao butter in the formation of small pieces, derived from the method of cold pressure, maintaining thus all its nutrients. It is highly rich in antioxidants and very known ingredient of cosmetics and skincare products.
Let’s return back to the recipe, after this small but useful parenthesis. Optionally you can add as a filling:
- pink pepper (…. my favorite)
- coconut flakes
Make a bain-marie: put water into a pan, when it boils, lower the heat and secure glass or stainless steel bowl on top of the pan and not into the hot water of the pan. Put the pieces of cocoa butter on the coconut oil into this bowl. When they melt add the rest ingredients. Whisk them well till it becomes a homogenous smooth mixture.
Add your favorite filling.
Put the mixture into a baking pan covered with baking oil paper or silicone small baking forms and then into the freezer for one-two hours depending on the thickness of the mixture.
After 0ne – two hours take out from the freezer, cut it and enjoy without guilts as it does not contain artificial colors and conservatives like the chocolate bars out in the market.
